Whatnot Weekly Bundling: what it changes for sellers

Bundles close Sunday midnight and ship by Tuesday. What it does to your labels, your held stock and, if you have Early Payout, when you get paid.

What Weekly Bundling is

Weekly Bundling groups everything one buyer buys from one seller across a week into a single shipment. Bundles close on Sunday at midnight local time, and anything bought after that counts toward the next week. Both sides have to opt in: if the buyer has not, or you have not, the order ships on its own in the usual two business days.

Everything here is from Whatnot's seller guide, Weekly Bundling: Seller Instructions and FAQ, dated 16 September 2026 and read on 17 September 2026. It is a new feature and the details will move; check Seller Hub before you plan a week around it.

Who can actually turn it on

On the seller side it is live in Australia, Austria, Canada, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. The United States is not on that list. Buyer opt-in is open everywhere except France and Belgium, which is why plenty of US sellers have had the buyer announcement land in their inbox without being able to switch it on themselves.

The two opt-ins are separate, and opting in as a buyer does not opt you in as a seller. As a seller you turn it on in Seller Hub, on a computer, under Shipments, in the sidebar. Buyers turn it on in Settings under Payments and Shipping, or from the Wallet during a participating seller's show.

Does Weekly Bundling delay when I get paid?

It can, and not only on Early Payout. Early Payout sellers are paid when the label is generated, and a weekly bundle's label comes after the bundle closes on Sunday, so a Monday sale can wait until the following week. Standard clocks slip too: they start at delivery, or in Germany at label generation, and a bundled parcel leaves later.

It is worth being concrete about the size of it. A buyer who buys from you on Monday and again on Saturday is one bundle that closes Sunday at midnight, and you have until the end of Tuesday to ship it. If you are on Early Payout, the Monday sale's money moves when that label prints, not when the sale happened. Without Early Payout the delay is smaller but it is still there, because every standard clock in the countries this feature is live in starts at delivery, or in Germany at label generation, and a parcel that leaves on Tuesday arrives later than one that left last week. Nothing is lost either way, but a week of sales can land in your balance later than you are used to, and that is a cash-flow change rather than a profit one. When do Whatnot sellers get paid covers both clocks and how Early Payout qualification works, and Whatnot profit vs cash flow covers why a profitable month can still leave the account empty.

Does Weekly Bundling mean free shipping after the first order?

No, and Whatnot's own answer to that question is not necessarily. The buyer pays for one shipment rather than several, but if the bundle grows into a higher weight class they pay the difference. Whatnot's own example is a bundle crossing from the 500g class into the 1kg one. Weekly Bundling changes how many labels a week produces, not what a label costs at a given weight.

The reason is the shape of the rate card rather than anything about bundling. Shipping is priced in weight bands, and a bundle that crosses a boundary pays the next band. That cuts both ways: inside a band, another item genuinely does travel for nothing, and bundling is at its best exactly there. If you ship in the US, our free shipping calculator shows where the next boundary sits for any weight, which is the number that decides whether one more item in the box is free or expensive. It runs the US rate card, so it is the wrong tool for the countries this feature is live in and the right one for understanding the shape.

It bundles marketplace orders too, unlike Smart Bundling

This is the difference most likely to catch someone who already knows how bundling works here. Smart Bundling, the automatic grouping that runs on Whatnot by default, does not combine in-show and out-of-show purchases: its own guide says so, and a marketplace purchase is an out-of-show one. Weekly Bundling does combine them, as long as both sides are opted in and the orders fall in the same week.

So the two features are not the same thing with a longer window. Who pays shipping on Whatnot covers Smart Bundling, the three shipping cost settings and the six ways shipping ends up on your side of the ledger.

The operational traps

Three of them, and the first is the one that will bite hardest. Generating the label for a weekly bundle closes that bundle, so bulk-generating labels after a show without filtering will quietly end bundles that were still collecting orders. Whatnot's own instruction is to skip weekly bundles when you generate labels for a show, and to use the Shipments filter, Only Show Weekly Bundles, when you come back to them. Closed bundles show in orange, and the Needs Label filter is the one that lists them.

The second is storage. You are holding a buyer's goods for up to a week, so they need somewhere safe and findable, and a misplaced item is now a bundle-sized problem rather than an order-sized one. The third is timing: bundles close Sunday at midnight local and must ship within two business days of the close, which makes Tuesday the real deadline. Whatnot suggests generating bundle labels on Monday morning, before you go live again, so open and closed bundles do not blur together. Labels are desktop-only, and packing slips do not exist until the label does.

One piece of good news among them: ship time for a bundled order is measured from the bundle close, not from the original purchase, so a week-old order in an open bundle is not counting against your ship time.

Can I still ship normally while Weekly Bundling is on?

Yes, and you have to. In the seven countries where the seller side of Weekly Bundling is live, both the buyer and the seller must be opted in for orders to bundle, so an opted-in seller still gets ordinary orders from buyers who are not, and those ship within two business days as usual. The bundled ones are set aside until the bundle closes.

Two other edges worth knowing. If a buyer opts in after buying from you, that first purchase only joins the bundle if they buy again in the same stream; otherwise it ships on its own and the bundling starts from their next show. And if a buyer changes their address mid-week, a new bundle opens for the new address while the earlier orders go to the old one.

What it changes about your numbers

Less than the announcement implies, and in different places than you would guess. Bundling does not change your commission rate, and Whatnot charges its fees per transaction even when purchases ship together, which the fees guide works through. One thing can move, though. Payment processing is 2.9% of everything the buyer paid, buyer-paid shipping included, and a bundle means the buyer pays for one shipment instead of several. The seller guide does not say how that single shipping charge is allocated across the week's orders, so read it off your own report rather than assuming either way.

The bigger change is to WHEN things land. Your Weekly Order Report carries completed transactions, and a transaction completes when its earnings are processed. Move the label to the end of the week and you move that moment with it, so a Monday show's orders can appear in the FOLLOWING week's report rather than the one covering the show. Nothing is missing, but the file you reconcile against stops lining up with the week you sold in, which is worth knowing before you go looking for orders that seem to have vanished.

One more, and it is the honest limit of any shipping cost: a bundled shipment can span several shows, so its shipping charge arrives as one dated other cost for the week rather than as a cost belonging to a single show. BreakCount books it that way because that is what it is.

If you sell from the US there is nothing to switch on yet, so the useful move is knowing what changes when it arrives. If you can turn it on, compare a few weeks either side in your own records: the shipping you paid per week, and the gap between a sale and its payout. Import the report, add what each purchase lot cost, and every show still gets its show profit with the postage counted, which makes that comparison a read rather than a reconstruction.
