What is your true hourly profit on Whatnot?

Net per live hour already nets other costs and times every show for you. What it can never see is prep, pack, ship and support, the other four buckets a show costs.

What is your true hourly profit on Whatnot?

Net profit divided by every hour a show actually took, not just the hours you were live. BreakCount already shows the live-hours half of that for free: Net per live hour, on the Home page's P&L ladder, divides the period's real net profit by the live duration of every settled show in it, timed automatically from your own Weekly Order Report. What it can never divide by is the other four buckets a show actually costs: prep, pack, ship and support. None of those appears in any file Whatnot exports, so true hourly profit needs one more number from you, not five.

This is the honest limit stated up front, in both directions. Net per live hour already gets the hard part right. You still supply the rest.

Does BreakCount already show a dollar-per-hour figure?

Yes. Net per live hour sits on the Home page's P&L ladder, for both the current week and the current month, and on the public demo: net profit, after other costs, divided by the live hours behind every settled show in that period. Each show's own live hours come from its start and end time in your Weekly Order Report, so nobody has to time a stream by hand. It only ever divides by the Show bucket, which is the one thing this page is about.

The five buckets of time a show actually costs

What to add up before dividing profit by hours. No bucket has a typical length; each seller's own week decides it.
BucketWhat it coversExample
PrepSourcing, opening and sorting inventory, pulling and photographing singles, building the show planSorting a case into break spots the night before
ShowThe time you are live, timed for you: the only bucket Net per live hour divides byA two-hour stream, start to sold out
PackPulling sold items, sleeving and boarding, printing labels, boxingAn hour packing thirty orders the morning after
ShipGetting labelled parcels to the carrierA drop-off run to the post office
SupportBuyer messages, a wrong-address fix, a damaged-in-transit claimTen short replies spread across the week

Notice that only one of the five, Show, is a bucket any platform feature can ever see or time. The other four happen away from any file Whatnot exports, which is exactly why a seller who reads only Net per live hour is looking at something real, a strong rate on camera, but calling it the hourly rate on the business is where the number stops being honest.

Net per live hour already gets the hard part right

Net profit per live hour is a phrase this site has used before, in is selling on Whatnot worth it and how much do Whatnot sellers make, both times as a companion metric named in passing. The shipped feature behind it, Net per live hour on the Home page's P&L ladder, does the division correctly: the period's real net profit, other costs already subtracted, over every settled show's live hours, timed for you. It is still the flattering version of an hourly rate, because Show is usually the smallest of the five buckets a show actually costs, and dividing by it alone hides the other four rather than answering for them.

True hourly profit is the same net profit, divided by the honest denominator: the Show bucket the product already times, plus prep, pack, ship and support added in by hand, for the same stretch of shows the profit covers. It will always be a smaller number than Net per live hour, and it is the one worth deciding your evenings on.

Does Net per live hour show your true hourly profit?

No, and it never claims to: the label says exactly what it measures. Net per live hour already does the hard part correctly, dividing the real period net profit, other costs included, by every settled show's live hours. What it cannot do is see prep, pack, ship or support time, because none of those ever appears in a file Whatnot exports. True hourly profit is the same net profit divided by all five buckets, and the other four are always yours to add.

A worked example

One hypothetical show, simplified to keep the arithmetic followable; Net per live hour itself runs the same division over every settled show in a week or month, not one show at a time. The show profit and live hours below are the kind of figures the product already computes; the other four buckets are a made-up but plausible log, kept in a spreadsheet next to the export.

A worked example, not an average. Swap in your own numbers.
LineFigure
Net profit$420.00
Live hours (timed for you)2.0
Net per live hour$210.00
Prep, pack, ship and support hours5.5
True hours (all five buckets)7.5
True hourly profit$56.00

Same $420.00, and the honest number is a quarter of the flattering one. Neither figure is fake; they answer different questions. Net per live hour is a number BreakCount already gives you. True hourly profit tells you whether the business does, and needs four more numbers only you have.

Does Net per live hour already net off other costs?

Yes, and this is the detail worth knowing before building a version by hand. It divides netProfitCents, show profit minus that period's other costs, a boost spend or a co-host split included, never a single show's profit on its own. A seller who reaches for one show's profit and one show's hours is building a narrower number than the one Home already shows for the period.

Track it yourself, next to the profit you already have

Nothing here needs a new tool for four of the five buckets. BreakCount already times Show for you and nets other costs correctly into Net per live hour on Home. Add one column next to whichever export you already keep for the rest: hours for prep, pack, ship and support, per show or per week. Divide your own net profit by the total, and you have your true hourly profit without guessing at anyone else's average. Whatnot profit vs cash flow is the companion honesty check on the other side of the same question, why a profitable week can still leave the account empty.

Import the Weekly Order Report, add one cost per purchase lot, and Home already shows Net per live hour the moment a show's orders are fully allocated, no signup required to see it work on the demo. Add your own hours for the other four buckets, and the number you decide your evenings on stops being a guess.
